I wrote this poem for you: THE BOY THE MAN The boy stood alone facing an applauding crowd. His heart overflowing, he was tearful and proud. They’d loved his performance, he’d showed all he’d got. Now he wanted the buzz, the adoration, the lot. As he grew older his dream kept his soul from decay. He’d be a big star he was once heard to say. He imagined how fame felt, he imagined the glory. But when fame came, the dream died, it was not the same story. Oh, at first it was flashlights and women and song. But then came the kickback, the story was wrong. And the dream that he’d had when his heart was untainted. Was now the nightmare illusion the reality left painted. So the man on the stage stared sightlessly at the mass. And he prayed that the show would be done and would pass. Till a voice from his youth said in a whisper of awe.‘’I think I’d like to do this once more.’’ Then the man smiled wryly and nodded, he knew. That the story wasn’t over, and there was more to do. So he walked to the edge and he waved at a boy. And he again felt the hunger that he’d let fame destroy. In the crowd, the boy grinned and shouted ‘’He saw’’ ‘’One day I’ll be like him and I’ll travel and tour…’’ And the man heard the shout and he knew this was right. Now on with the show, and the sounds and the lights. Had he lost his humanity or had he lost his dream? Had he found disillusion with the champagne and cream? He was only a boy who’d once stood on a stage. Whose life was a sentence, a paragraph, a page. A boy who had been lost in the glitz and the haze. Was now a man who was worshipped and feted and praised. So
back to those roots go back to the youth. He shed off his
illusion and found his own truth. ************************************** |

Thank you so much for putting up with the lack of sleep, lack of privacy and hardly ever seeing your family and friends!! I have no idea how u cope but u do and for that I’m grateful!! The last four years have been pretty tough for me but as soon as I lie on bed, turn my wl cd on and hear your voice everything seems ok. My only complaint is that you haven’t declared your undying love for me - a girl can dream!!! I was lucky enough to be able to go to the 'Queen of My Heart' video shoot and meet you (in the off chance that you remember, I was the one in the pink top!!). You made that day the best ever so yet again I’ve gotta thank you!! The Irish flag that you signed is now the highlight of my room! The new single is amazing and the b-side 'You Don't Know' is even more so. It makes it even more clear the hell you have to put up with sometimes!! I hope with all my heart that Westlife are around for many more years and I’m sure that there will be many more No.1's, numerous awards and more fab tours!! Even when Westlife does eventually end please never give up singing. You have the most amazing voice that I have ever heard (and your body ain't bad either!!). It doesn’t matter how much the 'oh so caring' British press slag u and the other guys off, ill always be under, sorry behind you!!
